8th Class, 2001-2002
Field Placement: South Carolina Anti-Hunger Network and Harvest Hope Food Bank (Columbia, SC)
Danielle planned, coordinated, and facilitated the South Carolina Anti-Hunger Network’s second annual state-wide conference entitled “Hungry Children Can’t Learn: Hunger Issues in Education.” She also worked on Hispanic/Latino issues for Harvest Hope Food Bank, interpreting and translating for clients, doing community outreach, and conducting cultural competency training for Food Bank staff and volunteers.
Policy Placement: Food Research and Action Center (Washington, DC)
Danielle worked with the Child Nutrition Unit, primarily on projects dealing with After School Snacks and the Summer Food Service Program.
In May 2001 Danielle graduated summa cum laude from Oberlin College with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. She was a Bonner Scholar working with the Lorain County Children and Families Council on programs targeted at low-income families with children ages 0 to 3.
