Zero Hunger Interns Gain Experience, Policy Perspective in D.C.

Updates, Zero Hunger

The Hunger Center is pleased to announce the incoming class of Zero Hunger Interns for summer 2025. These developing leaders will work with and expand the impact of anti-hunger organizations in Washington, D.C., over ten weeks.

“It is an honor to welcome our eighth cohort of summer interns to Washington for the summer,” said Emily Irsik, Internships and Recruitment Coordinator and alum of the internship. “These rising leaders will provide valuable added capacity to their host organizations while learning about effective solutions to food insecurity in the U.S. and globally.”

“Each of us has a role to play in the movement to end hunger, and I’m excited to see how the members of this cohort will develop their strengths and passion for combatting food insecurity in new and unique ways.”

Zero Hunger Interns gain work experience through their work placements and join a supportive professional network of fellow interns and alums. The interns also expand their knowledge of the root causes of food insecurity and effective solutions through the 2025 Zero Hunger Summer Seminars, and develop their experience as advocates through the Gen Z Food & Hunger Summit.

The Zero Hunger Internship was launched in 2018 with support from the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation to build the knowledge and leadership skills of the next generation of leaders. To date, 90 interns have completed the program and supported the work of 43 organizations through projects focused on program implementation, policy, advocacy, research, development, and communications. This year’s class of Zero Hunger Interns is made possible through the generous support of the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation and the Corella & Bertram F. Bonner Foundation.
