Originally from Santiago, Chile, Jeanie Kim is a recent graduate from Claremont McKenna College, where she majored in Environment, Economics, and Politics (EEP) and History, with a sequence in Gender and Sexuality. Over the past years, she has been focusing on the intersection between social and climate justice, especially throughout her work with The Roberts Environmental Center, The Farmlink Project, and Environment America. As an Emerson Fellow, she hopes to continue her work in creating a sustainable and equitable food system.

Jeanie has been working on curriculum development, market research, and project management. Through her work, she is ensuring that nutrition is a core part of children's education.

Policy placement: U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

Washington, DC

Jeanie Kim is working at the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of their anti-hunger and nutrition work. She is bringing research into practice to make sure government programs are helping the people in need. Though her work is primarily related to nutrition, she is also working on projects related to advancing equity for multi-system youth and rural communities.
