This research note summarizes a qualitative study of community-based legal aid activities to support women’s land rights in Uganda and Tanzania that was conducted by a small team of International Food Policy Research Institute researchers focused on gender and land rights issues as they relate to food security. I was involved in data collection and analysis for the legal aid project and produced this research note to share a summary of our findings with stakeholders in Uganda and Tanzania during project dissemination workshops. The case study tells the story of one Ugandan woman’s work as a legal aid volunteer with the Uganda Land Alliance.
