Originally from Gainesville, Georgia, Mickey graduated from Davidson College in 2008 with a degree in political science.  He served as a Bonner Scholar, led alternative break trips, volunteered with Crisis Assistance Ministry, served as a liaison to a local community development council and researched the criminalization of homelessness at the National Coalition for the Homeless.  Mickey also studied in Oman and worked to implement a monitoring system for HIV/AIDS prevention programs in Ethiopia.
