Sakeenah joined the Congressional Hunger Center in June 2018 and works as the Emerson Program Associate. She coordinates field and policy trainings, serves as a liaison between the Emerson Fellowship and host organizations, manages graduate school partnerships, and supports the recruitment and selection of Emerson Fellows. Previously, Sakeenah worked as a Program Associate at D.C. Hunger Solutions and served as an AmeriCorps Member with City Year. She is unwavering in her belief that no one should ever go hungry, that poverty is solvable, and that food should be delicious and used to bring people together in community.

Sakeenah was an Emerson Fellow in the 23rd Class, completing her field placement in New Orleans, LA with the Jesuit Social Research Institute and her policy placement with the National Conference of State Legislatures in Washington, D.C. She is originally from San Diego, CA and received her B.A. in Philosophy from Georgetown University.
