Tade Mengesha

Originally from Denver, Colorado, Tade graduated from Northwestern University in 2014 with a degree in social policy. She organized a student-run conference for international students to develop and implement successful social change projects in their communities. She also led a global health advocacy student-run nonprofit organization and wrote several policy briefs focusing on food deserts and obesity. As a Center for Civic Engagement Fellow at Northwestern University, she managed programs to encourage community engagement among students.

Tade worked to serve and empower individuals with HIV/AIDS or other chronic conditions to improve their health. She researched “Food as Medicine” and assessed the effectiveness of the home delivered meals program at increasing positive health outcomes for the clients. She also led advocacy trainings to empower individuals affected or infected by HIV to use their political power to end AIDS.

Tade researched and compiled information on anti-poverty tax policies and expanded RESULTS membership in several states. She also assisted with the International Conference and led a plenary on the lived experiences of people in poverty.
