Field placement: Northwest Harvest

Seattle, Washington

Baridilo is completing her field placement at Northwest Harvest, a food justice organization in Washington State. Working out of the Seattle office, Baridilo is creating curriculum for Northwest Harvest's Speakers' Bureau. The Speakers Bureau program is a way for the organization's advocacy team to center people who have experiences of hunger and poverty in the city. The goal is to foster leadership, public speaking, and advocacy and policy training to prepare participants to interface with legislators. Baridilo is also researching ways to provide better access for food bank clients and ways to better connect Washingtonians with lived experiences of hunger and poverty to law and policy makers.
