House Foreign Affairs Committee passes Global Food Security Act by Unanimous Voice Vote

The Global Food Security Act (H.R.1567)  passed out of the House Foreign Affairs Committee by unanimous voice vote on April 23. This legislation, which currently has 19 bipartisan cosponsors, seeks to capture and improve upon the successes the U.S. government is already achieving through its Feed the Future Initiative. The bill would require a Global Food Security Strategy focused on small-scale agricultural producers and the nutrition of mothers and children. The strategy must further be based on principles of aid effectiveness and include strong coordination, evaluation and reporting provisions. CHC and 57 other development organizations issued a statement supporting passage of this bill.
