ASHLEY AAKESSON

Field Placement: Save the Children USA in Negelle, Ethiopia
Ashley designs and implements community-based food security and anti-hunger projects in the pastoral zone of Southern Ethiopia. For one such project, Ashley visited nursing mothers in Negelle, Ethiopia, researching their childcare practices to assess the nutritional health of their infants.

Policy Placement: Save the Children USA in Washington DC
Ashley will provide research, training, and advocacy support to Save the Children's Food Security Unit, specifically in the areas of emergency response, food policy, and foreign aid.

Education/Experience: Ashley earned a Master's degree in Applied Anthropology from the University of Maryland, where she specialized in community health, agricultural development, and participatory, rapid rural appraisal. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio




ROBERT OLIVER DAVILA

ROBERT OLIVER DAVILA

Field Placement: UN World Food Programme (WFP) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Robert visits schools all over Ethiopia helping to implement the WFP Global School Feeding Program. Robert monitors and evaluates the impact of the program on the lives of children, families, and communities.

Policy Placement: UN World Food Programme in Rome, Italy
Robert will work with the Global School Feeding Support Unit in the Strategy and Policy Division of the WFP. There he will be responsible for collecting and monitoring data on WFP school feeding programs throughout the world.
Detailed work plan assignment

Education/Experience: Robert has served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Africa for three years, managed a county food bank in Massachusetts, and worked for the U.S. Department of State. He earned his Masters in International Development and Social Change at Clark University and is fluent in Spanish and French.
