The Christian Children's Fund (CCF) works to
improve the lives of children in 31 countries around the world,
assisting over seven million children and families regardless
of race, creed or gender. CCF programs are comprehensive,
incorporating health, nutrition, education and livelihood
interventions that are determined with the help of parents'
committees. CCF has been working in Honduras since 1982 and
assists approximately 24,000 children and families in two
departments of the country. Significant parts of the country
have suffered from food crises for the past several years,
due to the worldwide drop in coffee prices. The role of the
fellow during the field year will be to assist CCF-Honduras
to define a strategy for improved food security in the target
areas. The Fellow will work on the Program Development Team
within CCF-Honduras, and have the opportunity to interact
with project beneficiaries on a regular basis. During the
policy year, the Fellow will use the experience gained in
Honduras to draft a regional food security policy for Latin
America, and share lessons learned and best practices from
the field year with other country offices.
