Mercy Corps is an international relief and development
organization that alleviates suffering, poverty and oppression
by helping people build secure, productive and just communities.
The agency now operates in more than 35 countries, serving
over six million people. Mercy Corps Mongolia is implementing
two major rural economic development programs aimed at improving
the incomes of rural residents.
The Fellow will work primarily on the "Rural
Agribusiness Support Program" (RASP) which has two key
objectives: increasing production and sale of animal products
and developing a more market-oriented agricultural production
and marketing system. The role of the Fellow will be to develop
a standardized evaluation process for reviewing gaps in the
production-to-market supply chain in various sectors (meat,
dairy, vegetables) and determining which agribusinesses should
be supported or developed by the program. During the policy
year, the Fellow will be a member of the technical support
unit based in Washington, DC where s/he will contribute to
Mercy Corps' organizational learning initiative by furthering
the activities and lessons of the field placement for the
benefit of the wider organization.
Education/Skills required

consists mostly of meat and dairy products. Vegetarians and
others with dietary restrictions may have difficulty, particularly
during travel outside of the capital.
