AF-10: Ugandan Land Alliance / International Land Coalition

Field Site: Uganda
Policy Site: Rome, Italy
See Web Site: http://www.landcoalition.org/

This placement focuses on access to land and the relation that secure tenure to land has to improved incomes for small farmers in the developing world. The placement is collaboration between the International Land Coalition (ILC), a global alliance of more than 40 intergovernmental and civil society organizations that works to increase access to land for poor households, and the Ugandan Land Alliance, a national civil society network.

The Uganda Land Alliance (ULA) will host the fellow for the first year. ILC supports its global membership to conduct activities to empower local communities, identify and document local knowledge, strengthen networks and influence national-level policy. ILC also works as an advocate at the global level by creating opportunities for its civil society members to participate in UN and other international forums related to land.
Responsibilities and duties would include, among others: drafting policy and programming documents, research and analysis of relevant land-related policies, documenting ILC partners' experiences in influencing land policy, and providing support to ILC on external communications.
