Save the Children is a leading international relief and development
organization whose origins come from the children's rights
movement. A cornerstone of Save the Children's programs involves
working with families to define and solve the problems of
children and communities while utilizing a broad array of
strategies to ensure self-sufficiency.
In Uganda, the Fellow will work on a food security program
that seeks to improve food access and production among target
households and improve food utilization. The Fellow will work
with target farmers, organizing them into marketing groups
and creating links to potential buyers of products and sellers
of inputs. During the policy year, the Fellow will be a member
of the Food Security Unit which provides support and oversight
to 13 food security projects worldwide, including the project
in Uganda. The fellow will be able to continue working relationships
with Ugandan colleagues and apply lessons learned to other
programs that have similar components.
