Each year, organizations working at both the community-level or national level are invited to apply for a Fellow by submitting an application form and proposed project work plan to the Congressional Hunger Center.
Organizations apply by submitting an application and work plan form describing your organization, its mission and activities, and the project(s) you would like Fellows to complete. The work plan should identify the goals of the project and the outcomes desired, and the tasks and responsibilities needed to complete the project.
As we review applications from field sites, we look for work plans that focus on specific projects that go above and beyond the urgent, daily need to provide direct services. Ideally, we prefer that the Fellows work on projects or programs that our partners are just developing (or enhancing), and would require extra staff to make the project effective.
Fellows are placed in pairs in each field site location. If your organization is interested in applying to host only one Fellow, we suggest that you either recruit another organization in your local community to apply to host a second Fellow, or contact us to find out if we have invited other organizations in your community to apply.

National organizations working on issues related to hunger poverty are invited to apply for a Fellow by submitting an application and work plan describing their organization, its mission and activities, and the project(s) they would like Fellows to complete. The work plan should identify the goals of the project and the outcomes desired, and the tasks and responsibilities needed to complete the project.
While fellows are in their field placements, Emerson program staff provide them with information about the policy site options throughout the D.C. area. Fellows review applications of potential policy placements. After representatives from policy placements conduct phone interviews with interested Fellows, Emerson program staff request feedback from fellows and policy organizations, and then match fellows with organizations.
