Field Placement: Sacramento Housing Alliance (Sacramento, CA)

Sabrina worked to increase access to healthy and nutritious food for people experiencing homelessness. She conducted focus groups to gather data on the nutrition expertise and interests of homeless adults and developed a nutrition education curriculum and toolkit. She also piloted the nutrition education lessons to homeless people in Sacramento.

Hunger Free Community Report:

The Homeless Nutrition Education Toolkit provides homeless service agencies with best practices and lesson plans for nutrition education courses specifically targeted to homeless populations.

Policy Placement: Food Research and Action Center (Washington, DC)

Sabrina is working to maximize access to School Breakfast Program by promoting breakfast in the classroom. She is developing materials to assist school districts’ efforts to implement Community Eligibility, a new free-reduced price eligibility standard.

Pre-Fellowship Education/Experience:

Sabrina grew up in San Diego, California and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 2011 with a degree in peace and conflict studies. Sabrina is the co-founder and President of Spread the Word, an academic outreach and mentoring program that empowers under-resourced high school students to pursue higher education. Sabrina also served as a Public Policy and International Affairs Fellow at UC Berkeley.
