| “CHC is a leading private
organization that sends young Americans to work with the
poor around the globe. The Center gives the volunteers
the experience and training to become America’s
future leaders in the global fight against hunger.” |
- Secretary
of State, Colin L. Powell |
The Congressional Hunger Center does receive
funding for the Fellows Programs from Congress, but these
funds do not cover all of the Center’s operating budget.
Funding is also needed for CHC’s advocacy work on federal
nutrition programs and foreign and humanitarian aid in conjunction
with allied groups like the Food Research and Action Center,
Bread for the World, RESULTS, America’s Second Harvest,
and InterAction. We know that there are many requests for
funding, and that individual and foundation giving to private
nonprofits has declined significantly in the last few years.
But we believe that hunger is one problem we can solve by
working together to muster the political will and financial
resources to end hunger once and for all. This is why we are
requesting your financial help for CHC at whatever level possible.
